The Issue

As a dog lover deeply concerned about the well-being of our furry friends, I am fed up with witnessing dogs being walked on scorching concrete and asphalt during extreme heat. It is heartbreaking to see animals suffering due to the lack of awareness about the dangers of hot surfaces. Walking dogs on heated pavements can cause severe injury, akin to walking barefoot on a hot stove. This cruelty is not only negligent but entirely preventable and needs to be addressed immediately.

Scientific studies have shown that when temperatures reach 77°F (25°C), the pavement can reach up to 125°F (51.6°C) making it extremely dangerous for dogs' sensitive paws. At these temperatures, severe burn injuries to dogs' paws can occur in less than 60 seconds. Furthermore, dogs do not sweat like humans and can quickly overheat, leading to heatstroke, which can be fatal.

Our goal is to implement a universal regulation that prohibits walking dogs on public streets when temperatures exceed safe levels, protecting them from potential harm. This law should impose strict fines on those who fail to comply, as a deterrent against endangering animal welfare.

It's a simple yet effective measure that can save countless animals from unnecessary suffering. We need a global initiative to raise awareness and educate pet owners on the potential dangers of walking dogs in excessive heat. By regulating this practice, we stand to enhance the quality of life for our pets, ensuring they remain happy and healthy.

Sign this petition to urge lawmakers worldwide to take immediate action, establishing temperature safety standards for walking dogs and penalizing violations. Together, we can champion the rights of our pets and ensure a safer, more compassionate environment for all animals. Your support is crucial in making this necessary change happen. Please join us in this critical cause by signing the petition today.
