I am an individual deeply affected by the unregulated sale and use of fireworks. To me, it's not just about the celebration but about the unseen harmful effects. Noisy fireworks are not indispensable for any religious observance; they are ignited purely for visual pleasure, causing significant harm to pets, wildlife, and individuals suffering with PTSD. This unregulated practice is taking its toll, resulting in unnecessary loss of life. Fireworks serve no vital purpose, and their adverse effects, far more than fleeting, deserve urgent scrutiny and action. In the United States alone, the Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 10,000 injuries and 12 firework-related deaths in 2019 (Source: CPSC). These are not numbers we can ignore. This petition seeks to tackle these escalating problems directly. We urge the legislators to regulate the sale of fireworks to the general public, permitting their use ONLY on recognized celebration days and restricting all private sales outside of organized events.
