Mont Belvieu, Texas, our community and all of Texas really, faces a pressing problem: shelters overflowing with unwanted animals.  Our streets and neighborhoods being taken over by abandoned cats/dogs, left to fend for themselves.

One effective solution to decrease the number of homeless animals is requiring that all animals are spayed or neutered before they are adopted from shelters. Unfortunately, the Mont Belvieu Animal Shelter is unable to provide this essential service due to a lack of funding. The city does not allocate a budget for spaying and neutering, which leaves our shelter overwhelmed and animals continuously at risk.

By mandating that all animals are spayed or neutered before leaving the Mont Belvieu Animal Shelter, we can significantly reduce the number of stray and unwanted animals in our community. This policy not only saves lives but also reduces the long-term costs associated with animal control and sheltering.
