Mandate Spaying and Neutering of Pets in Texas

The Issue

Every day, as we go about our lives in Texas, we encounter a heartbreaking sight. Driving to work, walking our dogs, scrolling through social media - everywhere we look there are dumped, stray, hurt, starving and abused pets. Dogs chained up outside homes or used as bait animals; pregnant cats left to fend for themselves. It's a scene reminiscent of a third world country - but this is happening right here in Texas! We Texans pride ourselves on being better than this.

The solution is clear: mandatory spaying and neutering of pets. By enforcing this rule across the state of Texas, we can significantly reduce the number of unwanted animals suffering on our streets. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), millions of healthy dogs and cats are euthanized each year in the United States due to overpopulation issues stemming from uncontrolled breeding.

Furthermore, spaying or neutering has been shown not only to prevent unwanted litters but also offers health benefits for pets including reducing their risk for certain cancers (according to American Veterinary Medical Association).

It's time that we take action against pet overpopulation crisis plaguing our state by mandating all pet owners have their dogs and cats spayed or neutered. Let us ensure that every pet born has a loving home waiting for it rather than facing an uncertain future on the streets or in overcrowded shelters.

Please sign this petition today if you believe that all pets deserve better than what they're currently facing here in Texas!
