I'm a concerned citizen deeply affected by the distressing fact that more than seven million healthy dogs and cats are euthanized every year in the United States alone. As a society, we must strive for better solutions. One prevalent and effective remedy is to enforce mandatory spaying or neutering of all dogs and cats, barring those exempted by local authorities. This simple, yet crucial action can drastically reduce the number of needless euthanasia in our country. It is my goal that communities mandating the spaying/neutering of pets will reduce the number of shelter admission rates.
