Mandate Spay and Neuter for All Dogs and Cats within City Limits

The Issue

As a foster mom to many fur babies( see picture for at least 2 of them) I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of overpopulation in our animal shelters. In one shelter alone in Houston, Texas in 2023 more than 2000 dogs and cats lost their lives because of irresponsible people and backyard breeders. Across Texas, that number rose to a staggering 23,000 dogs and cats. Nationally in the same year, more than 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats were euthanized.

This is not just an issue about numbers; it's about lives - innocent animals who are born into a world where there simply aren't enough homes for them all. It's time we take action to prevent this unnecessary loss of life by requiring mandatory spaying and neutering of all dogs and cats within city limits.

Spaying or neutering pets has been proven to reduce pet homelessness drastically as well as improve their health conditions (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). By implementing this requirement within our city limits we can save thousands of innocent lives each year.

Please join me in urging our local government officials to enact legislation requiring mandatory spay/neuter procedures for all domesticated dogs and cats within our city limits. Let us be part of the solution instead of contributing further to this heartbreaking problem. Sign this petition today! Please share this with your friends and family. My goal is 500,000 signatures before I send to it our government in Houston, Texas. I would love to reach 1 million people signing and have governments all over the country hear the people's demand that change happens NOW. Please share with your government officials too because this is not just an issue that affects Houston- it affects us as a country.
