I am a parent who experienced a terrifying incident on Saturday, 30th March. My husband and I entered the parents' room at our local shopping centre to find a man using drugs behind the curtain of one of the feeding rooms. This was not only extremely scary and confronting but also put us and our child in immediate danger. There have been other instances where young teenagers occupy these rooms for vaping or drug use.

This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a larger problem that needs urgent attention. Parents' rooms are meant to be safe spaces for parents and their children, yet they are being misused by individuals engaging in illegal activities.

We need change now. We demand that all shopping centres across Australia implement strict security measures to ensure the safety of parents and children using these facilities. This could include creating passes for parents or having security personnel present at all times.

The safety of our children should never be compromised due to negligence or lack of proper security measures in public spaces like shopping centres. Let's make sure no parent has to face such a horrifying situation again.
