My family and I, like many others in Magoffin County, have experienced distressing and unhygienic conditions in our own homes due to the city's failing sewer system. The sewage has been backing up into our homes through the drains. It's unthinkable to be bathing and then have feces pushed up out of the drain into the tub, or to be unable to use the shower, sinks or toilet while washing our clothes for fear of sewage erupting from the drains. It's a dreadful, all too common experience here. Our homes should be places of comfort and safety, not further sources of struggle and stress.

Enough is enough. It's time for Magoffin County’s Water District to take this problem seriously. We demand regular inspection of the pipe connections between our homes and the city’s sewer system. This problem not only hinders basic daily tasks, but also poses significant health risks to the residents of Magoffin County. Sanitation is a basic human right and in the 21st century, these conditions are inexcusable.

We call to the relevant authorities to ensure routine checks, timely repair of faulty pipe connections and better sewage management. Our human dignity, our health, and the basic enjoyment of our homes depend on it. Stand with us in this struggle.
