The Issue

Living in Huntington, West Virginia, I've grown passionate about our community's well-being and the decisions that impact our daily lives. It's personal for me, and like many of you, I want the best for our city. A key part of that vision is ensuring that the people making decisions—our City Council members—truly understand and experience the daily life of Huntington's residents.

Currently, there's a council member living outside our city collecting a city salary. They decide on matters affecting our roads, schools, safety, and local businesses, yet some might not experience these issues firsthand.

Consider this: Having them live within city limits ensures they are directly accountable to those they serve and benefit from the improvements they help enact.

Council members residing in the community foster a greater sense of unity, accountability, and engagement with local constituents. This isn't merely about proximity; it's about truth and an authentic understanding of what it means to live in Huntington.

This petition calls on the City Council to secure the mandate that all council members live within the city limits of Huntington, WV.  Sign this petition to encourage our City Council members to live where they legislate, bringing the change our city needs right from its heart.
