My personal shopping experiences have spurred the creation of this petition. Frequently, I purchase clothing online, only to be disappointed by the fit once the items arrive. The reality of online shopping today is such that many retailers operate under policies that offer no refunds - only store credit. These policies compound the dissatisfaction of a poor fit, essentially trapping the consumer's money within that particular store.

Moreover, these policies persist as the norm despite the increasing shift toward online shopping in the wake of COVID-19. It's alarming to note that online fashion sales are expected to account for 36% of total fashion retail by 2022 (Statista, 2021). Thus, the number of customers potentially facing the same issue is set to increase significantly.

This unfair policy of no-refunds especially for sales items and non-faulty pieces is restrictive and completely defeats the purpose of the Consumer Guarantees Act, which aims to protect buyers like you and I. Hence, I am calling for an amendment of this act to include a requirement for all online clothing businesses to provide complete refunds for all items, regardless of the reason for return.
