Teacher-librarian cuts are happening!

The Newcastle/Maitland Diocese have decided to make the cuts to the teacher-librarian roles. This is horrendous news for the TLs involved and for the kids who will pay the price. The Diocese blame their $17.4million deficit for the decision but also point to a consultation process that has apparently validated this call. Impossible! If they were listening they would hear the public backlash, the media storm and the community who have clearly demanded that TLs remain in school libraries. If we are serious about tuning our declining literacy rates around we need TLs in schools fostering reading cultures and helping kids read for fun.
