My personal battle with prostate cancer makes me acutely aware of the devastation it can bring. It all began with my brother's diagnosis. The shared pain and fear that ensued prompted me to get screened. Astonishingly, I was diagnosed as well. Thankfully, my cancer was detected early, and I was fortunate enough to have my prostate removed. I am now cancer-free.

Yet, not everyone would be this fortunate without early detection. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men, with nearly 1 in 8 being diagnosed during their lifetime  Regular screening is critical as early-stage prostate cancer usually has no symptoms.

Therefore, I urge health authorities and policymakers to mandate regular prostate cancer screening for all men above the age of 40. This practice has the potential to catch the disease earlier, save countless lives and drastically reduce the effects of this often silent killer.
