It is a harsh reality that in the United States, spouses often do not have the right to be paid caregivers for their permanently disabled partners, a practice that deprives countless families of a critical source of income and forces them into financial hardship. This is not just unjust - it's a serious public issue that needs immediate attention.

We are asking that a mandate be put in place to secure the right of all spouses to be recognized and compensated as full-time caregivers to their permanently disabled partner. Financial support for spousal caregivers is not simply an economic necessity, but also a matter of humanity and dignity, granting recognition to the tireless devotion of spouses to their loved ones in need.
