I am a resident of Prince Rupert, BC, and like many others here, I am deeply concerned about the issue of being charged for water that is not fit for consumption. It's a problem that affects us all - residents and businesses alike. We are paying for a utility we can't use or drink. This is not just unfair; it's unacceptable.

In Canada, access to clean and safe drinking water is considered a basic human right. However, in our community of Prince Rupert, this right seems to be overlooked as we continue to pay for water deemed unfit to drink.

According to Health Canada guidelines (2019), drinking water should be free from harmful concentrations of chemicals or pathogens that could pose health risks. Yet here we are in Prince Rupert having no choice but to pay for non-potable water.

This situation needs immediate attention and action from our local government officials. We demand an end to charges on non-drinkable water until the quality improves significantly enough that it meets the standards set by Health Canada.
