Mandate Mental Health Days in Schools and Workplaces

The Issue

My own story begins in high school, where anxiety was a constant companion, but taking a day off to cope was simply not an option. The gravity of mental health was not recognized. This pressure continued into adulthood, where the fear of judgement often outweighed the need to recharge, eventually leading to burnout and emotional collapse. Unfortunately, my story is not unique. Many of us suffer in silence because mental health days are not considered a necessity in our schools and workplaces.

According to the World Health Organization, around 264 million people globally suffer from depression, with many more facing other mental health conditions. Despite this, not enough measures are in place to support these individuals in their spaces of learning and work. Mental health days can act as a lifeline, offering an opportunity to regain control, seek help, and prevent distress from escalating into a crisis.

On behalf of every student and employee who has struggled with their mental health, this petition aims to mandate mental health days across all schools and workplaces. It's not just about asking for time off; it's about creating a culture of understanding, acceptance, and prioritizing mental wellbeing as we do physical health.

I urge you to join this cause. Let's give mental health the attention it deserves so that others don't have to silently suffer. Please sign this petition. Let's demand mandatory mental health days in schools and workplaces.

If anyone is struggling with their mental health, MindWave is a great resource for online help.
