In the spirit of openness and to ensure the principles of the open meetings act are upheld, we, the parents and community members, request all Romeo school board meetings be live-streamed by WBRW. This will allow for broader participation and accommodate those who cannot attend in person, fostering a more inclusive educational environment. According to a recent study conducted by Pew Research Center, 77% of Americans believe it is crucial for local public meetings to be transparent and accessible (Pew Research Centre, 2020). By broadcasting meetings online, we not only create a more informed and engaged community, but also adhere to the standards of transparency proclaimed by the school board itself.

According to page 17 of the State Law on the Open Meetings Act, “the exercise of the right to tape-record, videotape, and broadcast public meetings is not be dependent upon the prior approval of the public body.” 85
