Residents of Uptown and close neighbors of the Aragon have a growing concern regarding safety and accessibility due to the parking of semi trucks on Lawrence and Winthrop.  The dense population center is not suitable for these large vehicles.  Recent cycling deaths and struggles faced by individuals with accessibility needs in our neighborhood highlight the urgency of this issue.

Safety & Accessibility

The presence of these trucks and their large size reduces visibility and audibility for drivers and takes up a significant amount of roadway, creating a narrow pinch point of distracted drivers alongside vulnerable pedestrians and cyclists. Moreover, the trucks create accessibility issues for those who rely on clear pathways and easy sidewalk access to navigate their daily lives. 

The safety of our neighbors should be paramount; hence it is essential that Live Nation parks their semi-trucks in less congested areas during shows at Aragon Ballroom.

Environment 

Semi trucks parked on the street idling engines and running diesel generators for hours contribute significantly to noise pollution and air pollution in our community. According to a study published by Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP), long-term exposure to traffic-related air pollution can lead to serious health problems including respiratory diseases.


Let's ensure a safer environment for pedestrians, cyclists, individuals with accessibility needs while also reducing noise and air pollution in Uptown Chicago. Please sign this petition urging Live Nation at Aragon Ballroom to take immediate action on this matter.
