The Issue

I am a parent, just like many of you. My 11-year-old son has been the target of relentless bullying since his kindergarten years. Over time, the situation has only worsened. Teachers have failed to address this issue effectively, often because they are not privy to these incidents as they occur out of their sight or hearing range. This school year alone, my son has been physically assaulted almost every single day.

The bullying escalated to such an extent that my son once asked the school for a pair of shorts because he was being ridiculed for his clothing choices. No child should ever have to endure such humiliation and distress in an environment meant for learning and growth.

In light of these events, we propose the mandatory installation of cameras in classrooms across all schools nationwide. This measure will ensure that teachers and students alike are held accountable for their actions or lack thereof when it comes to preventing extreme forms of bullying.

According to DoSomething.org, approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day due to fear instilled by bullying (source: DoSomething.org). By installing cameras in classrooms, we can provide tangible evidence when incidents occur and take appropriate action swiftly instead of relying on hearsay.

Let's create safer learning environments for our children where they can focus on education rather than fear. Please sign this petition urging lawmakers and educational authorities across the nation to mandate classroom cameras as a deterrent against bullying.
