The safety of our children should be our top priority. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the migrant population with many being housed in locales close to schools. Though the majority of migrants are law-abiding, there are well-documented incidences of children being attacked within close proximity to migrant centres.

While the government places significant importance on providing migrant accommodation, unfortunately they are not playing as much importance on the safety and well being of our school-going children.

Migration is a reality of our society, and we acknowledge the numerous contributions from the migrant population. Yet, we must balance  this with the need to maintain a secure environment for our children.

For example, Dunchurch Park Hotel is being used to house hundreds of migrants within the hotel and also in pods on the grounds. Directly opposite the hotel is a nursery and school within a few minutes walk. There is another infant and junior school less than ten minutes walk away.

We have no idea on the background of the migrants or the crimes they may have committed in their own countries. Why are we risking our children's lives?

Therefore, we urge authorities to mandate regulations that restrict housing of migrants immediately next to schools. This would not exclude migrants from accessing necessary services or restrict them from actively participating in our society. However, it emphasizes our priority to ensure the safety of children in schools and maintains the integrity of our educational environments. Please show your support by signing this petition.
