As a pet owner of a beautiful Blue Staffordshire Bull terrier, Barney, I have experienced firsthand the horrifying effects of a food allergy in pets. Barney was prescribed a medication, "Apoquel", to alleviate his symptoms, yet, the side effects were heartbreaking. After extensive research and consultation with a vet, we discovered that Barney was allergic to chicken.

Like many pets, Barney's allergy caused severe skin reactions, obsessive licking of paws and pads, itching, scratching, and red sores. Chicken commonly causes these symptoms, as it is among the top five most common allergens for pets. Despite these allergies being common, the details are often overlooked by pet food manufacturers.

The dog food I purchased, Harringtons Natural Choice - Lamb and Rice, was labeled as such, but in small print, it also mentioned the inclusion of chicken. This inconveniently overlooked detail caused a severe allergic reaction in Barney.

We need manufacturers to be held accountable and to include the full list of ingredients clearly on the front of the packaging. This disclosure will not only safeguard our pets' health but also provide us, pet owners, with the peace of mind that we are feeding our pets safe and suitable food. We propose that legal measures be taken to enforce full and clear ingredient disclosure on all pet food products.

We owe it to our faithful companions to ensure their food is safe for them. Barney and countless others deserve better. Therefore, we kindly request your signature on this petition.
