I am a victim of an auto accident. The insurance company of the party at fault initially presented themselves as willing to resolve both the injury and property claim. However, they soon shifted their strategy, making it appear as if I was uncooperative and unfair. They acted as if all previously agreed upon terms were non-existent. As a result, my dental injuries worsened due to their delays in processing my claims leading to more expensive treatments and additional hardships during recovery.

This is not just my story; many others face similar situations every day. Currently, only policyholders are allowed to file lawsuits against unfair claims and insurance practices under the fair practices law. This loophole allows insurance companies to make false statements, delay actions that can lead to progression of injuries due to lack of immediate treatment.

It's time we demand change in this system that favors insurance companies over victims like us who are left dealing with physical pain and financial burden while they escape accountability.

Let's urge our lawmakers to extend the fair practices law so it applies not just policy holders but anyone dealing with an insurance company following an accident or incident. By doing so we can ensure that all individuals have equal rights when dealing with these corporations.
