The Issue

Our society continually evolves to promote fairness, equality, and shared responsibilities. However, reproductive responsibilities remain disproportionately placed upon women. Inherited from a long past, this burden places both emotional and physical stress on women, often leading to health issues, financial difficulties and impacts on career progression. It is time to reflect on our progress as a society and implement laws requiring men to share reproductive responsibilities equally.

Statistics from Planned Parenthood Federation of America, one of the most reliable sources for reproductive health research, show that out of 61 million US women of reproductive age, almost two thirds use contraception, illustrating the burden women carry in family planning. In contrast, male contraceptives have been seriously under-researched and underused, glaring evidence of the unequal division of responsibility.

This petition advocates for the establishment of policies that promote equal participation in family planning. These policies would include mandatory fertility tests for all men no later than 60 days after their 18th birthday, along with a reversible vasectomy for those with a sperm count exceeding 15 million—reversible vasectomy would be contingent upon documentation of two years of marriage and four years of tax return statements. Additionally, we propose irreversible vasectomies for men convicted of sexual assault and/or coercion. We also call for increased funding for research into male contraceptives and the promotion of their use once they become available. Furthermore, we urge the implementation of new policies that directly address men's responsibilities in preventing unintended pregnancies, ensuring that both parties are equally invested in resolving this widespread issue.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for a more progressive society that reflects true gender equality. We are giving men the opportunity to share the responsibility of family planning fully with their partners, promoting shared decision-making, and bettering our society as a whole.

Please, sign this petition for equal reproductive responsibility for men.
