Our homes are becoming the unwilling hosts to harmful substances. The smoke from cannabis, meth, and cocaine pollutes our living spaces, affecting not only our health but also the environment we strive to protect. This is a personal plea for change. We need all social housing to enforce bans on Class A and B drugs including cannabis.

The World Health Organization states that exposure to secondhand smoke from drugs can lead to a variety of health problems including respiratory diseases and cardiovascular issues (WHO). Furthermore, the production of these substances often involves toxic chemicals which can contaminate soil and water sources, posing an environmental hazard (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime).

As residents of social housing units, we should not have to suffer these consequences due to others' drug use. By enforcing bans on such substances in all social housing facilities across the country, we can ensure safer living conditions for everyone.
