Mandate Emergency Veterinary Care for All Animals Irrespective of Financial Constraints

Mandate Emergency Veterinary Care for All Animals Irrespective of Financial Constraints
The Issue
I am a grieving parent. My daughter's puppy, a beloved member of our family since the very day she was born, lost her life due to the harsh cold of -40 below 0. She had escaped from our home and was found shivering uncontrollably after 45 minutes of Frantically trying to find Her in the freezing temperatures. Despite my desperate attempts to warm her up and save her life, she passed away four days later. The most heartbreaking part? We sought emergency veterinary help but were turned away because we didn't have immediate funds.
Our pets are not just animals; they are family members who love us unconditionally. Their loyalty is unparalleled, their affection genuine and pure. Yet when they need urgent medical attention, most veterinary clinics can, have and will refuse treatment based on financial constraints.
This is unacceptable.
In the United States alone, approximately 85 million families own at least one pet according to a 2017-2018 National Pet Owners Survey conducted by American Pet Products Association (APPA). These pets deserve access to emergency healthcare regardless of their owners' immediate financial situation. These pets provide companionship, emotional support and unconditional love.
Accordingly, We call upon lawmakers nationwide to enact legislation to mandates all veterinarians not refuse emergancy care and provide emergency healthcare to any animal in need without refusal due to lack of immediate payment or insurance coverage. This law would ensure that no pet owner has to experience the heartbreak we did when we lost our puppy simply because we couldn't pay upfront.
Please join us in advocating for this crucial change in legislation by signing this petition today! Let's ensure that all animals receive the care they need during emergencies without any discrimination based on finances.
