As a dedicated cat rescuer who devotes her time to feeding, trapping, desexing, and finding homes for the ridiculous no. of abandoned, dumped, injured, sick and wild born Cat’s/Kittens living on the streets of Auckland.  I have witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of irresponsible pet breeding. Countless kitty’s lose their lives, a heartbreaking reality that could be avoided if only adult pets were desexed.

The senseless loss of these innocent lives is a direct result of breeders who are primarily focused on profits instead of the welfare of the animals. This issue has escalated to a point where a call to action is desperately needed.

In New Zealand, over 350,000 homeless kittens are euthanized each year due to overpopulation (source: NZ Cat Foundation). Showing that irresponsible breeding has real-world consequences that cannot be ignored.

I implore you to support this petition to make it mandatory for all pets for sale on the Trade Me platform to be desexed by the breeder before the sale of the pet. This single act can significantly lower the number of homeless and euthanized kittens. Together, we can ensure a safer, more compassionate future for these helpless animals.
