As a resident of Hibbing, MN, I am deeply concerned about the public health threat posed by pet feces left unattended. Our homes and neighborhoods should be places where we can enjoy our surroundings without the unpleasant sight or smell of pet waste. Not only is this an issue of basic cleanliness and respect for our community, but it also has serious implications for human and animal health.

Pet feces can contain harmful bacteria and parasites such as E. coli, Giardia, Salmonella among others that pose a risk to humans and other pets alike (source: Centers for Disease Control). Moreover, when not properly disposed of, these pathogens can enter our wastewater system causing further contamination.

The time has come to address this problem head-on. We are calling on local authorities in Hibbing to implement regulations requiring all pet owners to clean up their pets' waste daily. This simple act will greatly improve the quality of life in our community while protecting the health of its residents and their beloved pets.
