Mandate Better and Improved WiFi Connectivity in UK Villages

The Issue

I am speaking for myself and for many others living in the village of Potterne, UK who juggle hybrid work patterns that heavily rely on WiFi connectivity. The current service is far from satisfactory; it's unreliable and can't keep up with the demands of a modern, digitally connected lifestyle.

Improved WiFi is not a luxury; it is a necessity. In a 2020 report, Ofcom found that nearly 43% of UK residents used the internet for work-related activities outside of their workplace. Furthermore, it revealed that 66% of adults in the UK use the internet for 24 hours or more each week. This shows the significance of having reliable WiFi connectivity, especially in areas like our village.

We are all too familiar with the frustration of disrupted service meetings, inability to complete tasks on time, or even just enjoy some leisure time online. This situation compromises our productivity, our professional growth, and our quality of life.

We therefore ask the UK government and local authorities to implement measures ensuring better and improved WiFi connectivity in all villages, including Potterne, so that residents can enjoy the same quality of online experiences as urban dwellers. Please help level the digital field for rural and urban areas alike. Sign this petition to urge the authorities to act on this crucial matter.

we need the support and help for our local authority to take action and set up new masts in rural areas of Wiltshire.
