Seniors in our community are living in dangerous situations in care homes!

Our loved ones have no permanent heat source or air conditioning. Toilets are overflowing meters from space heaters on the floor. Basic utilities must be provided!

Care home legislation related to health and safety in the Province of British Columbia is inadequate. For-profit operators are not obligated by law to reach a minimal level of standards for building operation and/or maintenance.

Let's change the Community Care and Assisted Living Act from: "Maintained in a good state of repair" under the section - Standards to be Maintained and force the Province of British Columbia to mandate the development of a 25 year Capital Replacement Plan for every care home. The plan would be reviewed every five years with a set of penalties for failure to comply. 

All interested parties involved in the care of their loved ones would have full access to the document and the implementation process.
