Dear Supporters,
Thank you for your support – we've now reached over 48 signatures and counting!
I'm excited to share that on 11 November 2025, I submitted a detailed proposal to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) as part of their Review of Administration and Expenditure No. 24 (2024-2025) – Australian Intelligence Agencies.
This submission directly builds on our petition by recommending the insertion of s 46(2A) and s 46(2B) into the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979. It mandates an annual unclassified section in ASIO's Annual Report on “Institutional Distrust and Erosion of Public Confidence as a National Security Risk,” using neutral open-source metrics like public trust data and protest sentiment. It also calls for an early interim report if enacted soon.
This is a zero-cost way to boost transparency and address the fraying social fabric ASIO's Director-General has warned about. The submission references our petition and emphasizes that this reform fits perfectly within the PJCIS's current review.
While the submission hasn't yet been published on the government website (as these processes can take time), it's now officially in the hands of the committee. I've updated the petition description to better reflect this submission for clarity and accuracy.
Your signatures are making a difference – please share this petition to help us grow and push for real change. Together, we can restore unity and confidence in Australia's institutions.
Thank you,
