Mandate Animal Shelters to Collaborate with Nonprofits Before Euthanizing Animals

The Issue

As someone who deeply cares for the welfare of animals, it breaks my heart to see a dog or a cat being euthanized simply because shelters are full. There's no shortage of foster homes. In fact, there are numerous 501c3 organizations across America that work tirelessly to provide safe havens for these innocent creatures. We must stop this unnecessary killing.

We are petitioning for a nationwide mandate requiring animal shelters to reach out and collaborate with animal rescue and nonprofit organizations before resorting to euthanasia due to overcrowded facilities. These animals do not deserve such cruel fate just because there's not enough space in the shelter or lack of fosters.

In 2019, the federal government passed an animal cruelty bill, demonstrating their commitment towards protecting our furry friends (source: Congressional records). It is high time we take this commitment one step further by ensuring that every possible avenue is explored before considering euthanasia as an option.

There are plenty of nonprofit animal programs and no-kill shelters across America ready and willing to assist in such situations. By mandating collaboration between these entities and traditional shelters, we can save countless lives while also easing the burden on overcrowded facilities.

We have been given the privilege of being their voice; let us use it wisely by advocating for their right to life. Sign this petition today and help us take it all the way up to The White House! Let's pass another bill that ensures every pet gets a fair chance at life!
