Mandate Animal Control to Shelter Ill or Endangered Cats

Mandate Animal Control to Shelter Ill or Endangered Cats
The Issue
This petition is deeply personal for those of us who devote our time and resources to the feral cat communities across Delaware. We recently lost a cat named Boxy, who could not receive the help he needed because Animal Control was unable to take him in. This incident is not isolated, but rather indicative of a larger issue that needs immediate attention.
In Delaware alone, there are an estimated 90,000 feral cats (Source: Delaware News Journal). These cats are often susceptible to diseases and dangers that domesticated pets do not face. Yet despite this vulnerability, our current system does not require Animal Control to shelter these animals when they are ill or endangered.
This lack of mandate leaves countless cats like Boxy without the care they desperately need. It's time we change this policy and ensure all animals in danger have access to shelter and medical treatment.
By signing this petition, you're urging lawmakers in Delaware to mandate that Animal Control take responsibility for ill or endangered cats by providing them with shelter. Let's make sure no more lives like Boxy's are lost unnecessarily due to bureaucratic shortcomings. Please sign this petition today!
