I am a resident of Mindoro Oriental, Philippines, and I am deeply saddened by the disregard for animal welfare that I witness every day. Many of my friends do not treat their pets with the respect they deserve, an attitude that is both immoral and heartbreaking. This lack of empathy extends beyond domestic animals to our local wildlife as well.

Our region is home to diverse species, some of which are endangered. These creatures are part of our natural heritage and play crucial roles in maintaining our ecosystem's balance. However, their survival is threatened by human activities including habitat destruction and illegal hunting.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), over 25% of all mammal species in the Philippines are currently endangered. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for action.

We propose a mandate requiring every individual to take responsibility for animal care and protection. This includes providing proper care for domestic animals as well as respecting wildlife habitats and refraining from harmful activities towards wild animals.
