We are a community burdened by the steadily increasing cost of energy. Despite advancements in technology, which have led to more energy efficient electronics, bills continue to triple for no apparent reason. Month after month, we find ourselves paying thrice the usual amounts, wondering where our hard-earned money is going. This irregularity seems illogical given our devices are millions of times more efficient than those of our grandparents' era.

Economic analytics support our experiences, indicating a growing disparity between the cost of power and our consumption. American Electric Power (AEP) holds an overwhelming monopoly over the Appalachian area, taking advantage of the lack of competition to drive prices upward.

To protect consumers, we believe there are imperative policy changes needed. We're calling for the necessary stakeholders to step in and regulate power costs to ensure they are commensurate with consumption and technological efficiency. Such measures are crucial to maintain equitable economic statuses among citizens and to prevent unsustainable living expenses.
