Like many others across our nation, I've found myself consistently concerned and curious about the physical gold and silver reserves held by the U.S. government in Fort Knox and other locations. The last exhaustive audit of these precious metals took place in 1953, where a mere 10% of the gold bars were weighed to validate their authenticity. Since that time, we have lacked a comprehensive audit of the gold contents, leaving us all in the dark and questioning the reality of our national reserves.

Our current "audit" system merely involves a check on the official joint seals placed on vault compartments, a method painfully lacking in depth and detail. A thorough inspection of the gold itself is critically overdue.

The United States prides itself on transparency, accuracy, and trust. The audit of Fort Knox's gold reserves should be no exception. I urge the government to conduct a thorough and transparent review of the physical gold and silver stored in Fort Knox and/or other locations. This will not only ensure our national assets are as they should be but also instill faith in citizens who hold rightful concerns about the management of our nation's wealth.
