The assisted living care home industry in Arizona is pushing well over 2000 PRIVATE assisted living homes and facilities. Only us owners truly understand what it takes to run the day to day operations and to provide 24/7 care. The stress can be overwhelming during the best of times. Finding time to be with our own families and loved ones can be challenging and it’s time we got a little bit of our lives back! We need to mandate the Arizona department of health to give us a 30 day notice of inspection! As an owner and operator, I know I want to be there and ask questions during my inspections because I am the one most familiar with all that’s involved. Even when we have a delegator in our place, there is no way a caregiver will know all the ins and outs of the paperwork involved. When managers are able to be there, we can come prepared with questions about recent changes and get first hand feedback regarding new rules or coming changes. Plus this allows the caregivers to continue to focus on their work while we focus on providing the surveyor with the requested files and various paperwork. I’ve recently spoken to owners that have had to cancel vacations, leave important family functions, or appointments all because AZDHS shows up whenever they like. Let’s all sign the petition together and get AZDHS to add another “rule” to their ever expanding list, only this time, we focus on us! Mandate that the Arizona department of health services will notify any assisted living home or facility that they will have an inspection within 30 days time!
