Why this petition matters

Started by Emily A

Since September 2019, Manchester United has been officially partnered with CB Bank in Myanmar.

However, CB Bank is one of 45 organisations named in a report by the UN Human Rights Council for donating to the Myanmar military during the 2017 Rohingya genocide.

Manchester United's partnership has come under increased scrutiny since the military staged a coup in Myanmar on February 1 2021.

Astonishingly, while companies such as Kirin Beer have chosen to cut ties with the military altogether, Manchester United have failed to make any statement regarding their relationship with CB Bank.

For more information, please read this Ethical Consumer article detailing the relationship between Manchester United and CB Bank.

Manchester United enjoy immense support in Myanmar and must in turn show support to their Myanmar fans, who are fighting for their lives. Please sign this petition calling Manchester United to:

1) Break ties with CB Bank.

2) Issue a public statement in support of the anti-coup protests and raise awareness among fans of the developing situation in Myanmar.

3) Donate to charities supporting Rohingya refugees, such as BRAC or the UNHCR.
