On its website, Manchester Metropolitan University states it prides itself on "good governance" however its elected chancellor since 2016 has been Lord Mandelson. The same man who was responsible for the Iraq Invasion with Blair, friends with child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, and recently said in a statement in regards to toppling Edward Colston's statue who was a slave owner “I find mob rule very disturbing ...that’s the law of the jungle, isn’t it?”. Instead of recognising that the real barbarism was the slave trade itself, Mandelson chose to use racist language criticising the people of Bristol who felt the statue honoured a person who benefited from slavery.

I demand the university replaces him with an honourable academic from the black community and begins hiring more black professors. In a report conducted by Equality Challenge Unit, it found 0.6% of professors in the UK's Higher Education were black, this is appalling. As a student paying £9,250 annually, I will not accept my money to pay for his salary.
