I am petitioning for a disclaimer form to be introduced so parents can adopt a dog when they have children under 16 years old! I really feel all breeds deserve the chance to live happy lives with families and unfortunately if you have children under 16 you are not allowed! I find this incredibly distressing and down right heartbreaking, you are allowed to discharge yourself from hospital with life threatening conditions but you are not allowed to adopt a dog if you have children! I want a disclaimer so parents have the opportunity to decide if they are willing to take on the risk of an adopted dog based on their knowledge and experience! I have 3 children aged 8,3 and 1 we have got a Staffordshire bull terrier who is an absolute jem! She's fit with us perfectly and completed our family but had she been in the dogs I wouldn't have even been considered because of the kids! There are so many unwanted, unloved pooches looking for their forever homes and I just want them to have a fair chance at family life. Introducing a disclaimer will allow parents to accept full responsibility and allow dogs homes/adoption centres to relinquish responsibility if the worst should occur. Let's face it dog attacks are few and far between and there are families screaming out for a fur baby and having to go to breeders for puppies as they have children!
