We would like to share what the committee proposes for the marine lake. A natural river fed lake that is graduated from shallow sides to a depth of either 1.5 or 1.8 in the middle. The bath wall to have a sill in place and a bridge put over the break in the bath wall and sill. The sill would allow the lake to refresh at high tides, at an approximate rate of 50% There will be no diving boards. There will possibly be Edwardian style changing huts created. There will be a floating depth marker for the approximate 1 hour of high tide at which the depth would be a little more than stated. There would be a pipe fitted for emptying of the lake at extreme below freezing temperatures as and when required – to reduce the possibility of the lake freezing over, and could be refilled again at the next high tide. There would be no need for chemicals to be used, as the lake will be fresh high tide River Blackwater water. There will be no need for a pump other than in the winter for extreme below freezing temperatures. The lake will again attract visitors and families of Maldon and boost the town and prom. The lake will again be in keeping with its Edwardian heritage.
