Dear supporters
Well it's clear we are stepping on toes. Murdoch columnist Anthony Dilllon used his blog to accuse NJP and our Aboriginal project partners of being the "victim brigade".
Conservative writers tend to make these noises when we ask for basic human rights for our clients. They made similar noises in regard to our female clients who were viciously assaulted on Nauru.
Of course we disagree - Copwatch promotes empowering and positive creative responses when Aboriginal people are faced with daily police interactions - particularly when these interactions are unfair and unwarranted. Check it out here:

We need to face facts - a report last week stated in NSW alone, there has been a 25% increase in Aboriginal prison population in the past few years. Criminologists and communities have amply demonstrated that these figures are due to the discretion police use to target Aboriginal people - mainstream communities are simply not being targeted for the same things, in the same way.
We want to see empowered communities who have access to their civil liberties and human rights.
Over 20 communities are asking for the game changing human rights and media training. Together we are making this possible - an incredible 11,000 of you have shared this campaign - and just over almost 500 of you have donated.
We are getting closer - If just a fraction of those 11,000 chipped in we'd be able to reach the communities who are making contact with us every day:

Thank you again for your astonishing support so far and standing with us in support of our First People and I look forward to updating you again.
