Improve the treatment of dogs in greyhound racing

Improve the treatment of dogs in greyhound racing
The issue
The treatment of the greyhounds who compete in greyhound racing is disgraceful. If a dog is considered not fast enough to compete as a racing dog they will most likely be killed. More than 17,000 healthy dogs are killed each year, most before their 5th birthday and that is including the 5 that die on the racetrack every week.
Live baiting is a serious issue as well. Kittens, rabbits, possums and piglets are all victims of it. A track manager said this: “...they usually use possums ... you can see claw marks in the sand ... there's blood all over the track.” - Track manager
