Give 16 year olds like us the choice to vote

We are Spencer and Danai - two high school students who want to stop young people being ignored.
At 16 we are getting our first jobs, paying taxes, getting L plates, able to access government benefits and become organ donors.
What happens in the election affects us and so we need to be able to affect it. We’re young adults just as capable to speak up as anybody else. Our views and needs are not being represented in parliament at the moment.
Coming up to an election, politicians are only out looking for votes and so the issues that affect those of non-voting age are not given adequate attention.
People under 18 are also being shut out of the discussion on issues such as climate change, that will affect this group more than any other in the long term.
We believe that voting does not need to be compulsory for 16 year olds, but we should be given the choice to participate. Please sign and share our petition!
