Grandparents Raising There Grandchildren need more Financial help and Support,at the moment when Grandparents remove Grandchildren from the Department of Community Services to keep them within the family, they are completely left high and dry. People think there is a Grandparents Allowance, but I assure you there is not. When children are placed in foster care, the foster carers receive around $700 a fortnight for 2 children, and they also get everything they need to accomadate these children, clothes, bedding, school uniforms school fees and even if the foster carers want to go on holidays they help pay for the foster children in there care. Again what do Grandparents receive, well Grandparents recieve Tax A and Tax B from Centrelink. If they under the Pension Age they get no Pension card. The only help they get is New Start Allowance with which they have to look for 20 Jobs a Month to receive these benefits. If your lucky and over 55 you can volunteer for 15 hours somewhere and you continue on Newstart Allowance. No Pension Card to Assist with utilities or Car Registration. These Grandchildren need Love and Security, these Grandchildren have been through so much with Drug Addicted Parents, Mentally ill Parents and or Parents who just cannot Cope being Parents. Please Help to get this to our Government to Help Grandparents Raising Grandchildren receive more Financial Help to be able to give these Grandchildren a better life and a Better Chance to Succeed.
