Making it so you have to opt out of being a transplant donor rather than opting in

The issue

An transplant donor is a person who is deceased, who then of which furthermore saves lives by their organs being transplanted into other people who need it.  One Donor may save up to 7 + lives.

However, there is a present shortage in transplant donors, which means transplants are sometimes not done for 5+ years.

Certain conditions are needed to be met to do an transplant of an deceased person. Such things an donor would be assessed by is the way in which they die, while also the particular blood group they have.

If the donor does not meet certain requirements, such major operations like kidneys, pancreases, hearts or livers would easily be rejected.

(These requirements are enforced to ensure an working transplant.)

Nonetheless, this necessary rejection decreases our donation list even lower than it already is.

The low donation list is problematic, as since the longer an individual waits for an transplant the higher risk they have of death.

We want to help increase the donation list significantly, which in doing so would save many lives.

This petition is to be signed in regards to the idea of every Australia citizen being registered as an transplant donor unless opted out.

This would mean everyone in Australia is an Donor, unless you withdraw yourself manually.

The opt out donation system has been proven successful overseas, so why not bring it here to Victoria, as we have the least amount of donations in Australia.

This is in further hopes that the opt out system will encourage friends and families to discuss on whether they would like to donate or not.
