The issue

I am writing this petition after a personal experience that opened my eyes to the struggles faced by people with a disability in Australia. My friend, who uses a wheelchair, and I planned to catch up for a beer at a local bar. Despite being labeled as accessible on Google, we were greeted by an insurmountable flight of stairs at the entrance and a broken elevator that had been out of service for years. We were forced to find another venue, leaving my friend feeling embarrassed and like an inconvenience - feelings no one should have to endure.

This is not an isolated incident but rather part of a larger issue affecting many Australians with a disability. According to the Australian Network on Disability, 1 in 5 Australians has some form of disability, yet they continually face barriers when trying to participate in everyday activities such as socialising or going out for coffee or drinks.

We at Whats Doing App have decided to make a change. We have created an easy to use mobile app that helps people with a disability find fun, accessible things to do throughout the week. The platform will also help people to safely connect to others with lived experience. Helping to create and build friendships.

We are calling upon businesses and government bodies alike to take immediate action in supporting our platform, which will in turn create more inclusive communities across Australia. Helping to ensure all venues are truly accessible so everyone can enjoy their time without worrying about physical barriers.

By signing this petition, you're advocating for equality and inclusivity. You're advocating for our platform to be available across Australia so that every Australian with a disability can benefit from our services. Our app that will encourage people with a disability not only to get out of their house but also build friendships, get more active and healthy, and most importantly -have fun. Have more enjoyable experiences. And to live healthier, independent lives without any hindrance or embarrassment.

Let's work together towards creating an inclusive Australia where everyone feels welcome everywhere they go! Please sign this petition today!
