Make Zearn optional in Vancouver Public Schools
Make Zearn optional in Vancouver Public Schools
The Issue
Have you ever had to sit through something so boring that it felt like time was slowing down? Well, that's how I feel every time I use Zearn at school. My name is josie and I'm a student in the Vancouver Public Schools District. I'm starting this petition because I believe that while Zearn may be helpful for some, it’s not the best fit for everyone. I want to make Zearn an optional tool rather than a mandatory part of our curriculum.
Zearn is an online math program used by many schools, including ours, intended to enhance student learning. While it offers resources that can be beneficial, it's one-size-fits-all approach can make learning monotonous and uninspiring for students like me. Not everyone learns best through the same type of instruction, and it's essential to acknowledge the diverse learning preferences that exist among students.
By making programs like Zearn optional, we can allow students and teachers to choose methods of learning and instruction that cater to individual needs and preferences. This flexibility will help in fostering a more engaging and relevant educational experience for everybody involved.
Education experts assert that when students are given choices in their learning methods, motivation increases, and outcomes improve. Other districts have successfully implemented optional programs, allowing students to choose tools that best fit their learning style. This change could lead to increased student engagement and academic performance within our district.
By signing this petition, you're supporting a more personalized approach to education in Vancouver Public Schools. Let's advocate for learning choices that respect our individual learning styles and keep us excited about our education. Sign now to urge the Vancouver Public Schools District to make Zearn optional!
