I am Hlumelo Jubase (26), and like you, I want the best for South Africa’s future. Being born free, the freedoms I have inherited are not lost on me.

It deeply worries me that voter participation in our democracy is ever declining, particularly due to low rates among young voters.

The average South African is 28 years old, yet less than half of eligible young voters (18-40) are registered to vote. 

As young South Africans, it is our responsibility to cherish the hard fought democratic freedoms we have inherited.

This is why the week of  Youth Day annually must be dedicated to efforts to register young South Africans to vote

With your support, working with the IEC, we can make an investment each year to our democracy's future.

This must be apolitical and follow a whole-of-society approach in the interest of our constitutional democracy.
