Come on BBC, surely it's time a goal scored by a woman was eligible for ‘Goal of the Month’?! You’ve done so much to spotlight and support women’s football - how about going the extra mile now :-)

The Beeb’s legendary highlights show Match of the Day has been honouring the best goals in football every month since 1970.

That’s around 100 shortlisted goals every year for fans to vote on. And not a single one of them is from a female player.

Why? Because goals scored by women aren’t eligible, of course - only goals from The Premier League, the top level of men's English football, make the grade.

This is 2023.  It’s 50 years since the ban on women’s football was lifted in England. If we want to get more girls and women into football, wouldn’t opening up GOTM to The Women’s Super League, alongside The Premier League, send a really powerful message around inclusion? (After all, if you can’t see it, you can’t be it.)
