Make Wildlife Crossing Safer for Red Wolves

Make Wildlife Crossing Safer for Red Wolves
The Issue
Red wolves are the most endangered wolf species in the world, with less than 17 individuals remaining in the wild. Red wolves reside at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in North Carolina.
While they are protected as an "experimental population", and a part of SSP and SAFE programs, they have one prominent factor that is contributing to their mortality--vehicle strikes. Just recently, 5 red wolf pups died after their father was killed by a vehicle, leaving their mother to care for them independently.
Conserving the Wolves, and many other organizations are working toward the Red Wolf Wildlife Crossing Fund, which will enable North Carolina’s Highway 64 to be safer for wildlife crossing and mitigate tragedies like this. Saveredwolves.org has launched a fundraiser intending to raise at least $2,000,000 to build an upgraded wildlife crossing
While this is a major setback in red wolf conservation, there is still time to act. By signing this petition, you are asking for safer roads for vulnerable wildlife and encouraging the full recovery of this imperiled species.
