Verbolten has been known for its unique theming, and creepy atmosphere. However, this has declined with the new version. With the new release of Verbolten: Forbidden Turn, fans have felt that the ride had lost its creepy charm. Below is a list of some of the problems.

First, Frau Hexel is too generic of a character and needs to be spiced up. Frau Hexel, even though a funny character, is lacking character. She’s just a typical witch that enchants your car and saves you. Nothing really pops out about her character.

Second, the show building is lacking eeriness. As you know, the eerie sound effects have been replaced by rock music. Also, Frau Hexel’s line, “give me five stars” is corny. The Black Forest is lacking eeriness, and the danger it once had. 

Lastly, the famous “auf wiedersehen” has been replaced by Frau Hexel’s voice. This was the most famous line of the ride, and it takes away from the experience not to have it play anymore.

So these are the main issues that detract from the ride. As a Verbolten fan who’s ridden the original millions of times, it sickens me to watch my favorite ride become babyish. However, the ride isn’t quite finished yet, and I was thinking maybe there could be some changes. Why not? So I came up with some ideas that would make Verbolten a lot more enjoyable.

1. Make Frau Hexel a more interesting character. I’m sorry, but that woman has too much power to be a normal human. I already stated this to the designers but they didn’t listen. So I’ll state it here. Hear me out, instead of being a normal witch, she should secretly be the spirit from the original. A few things that made me think about this is that first, she’s moving the card with her bare hands. She’s not casting spells or using a wand, she’s using her bare hands. Second, it explains why she can’t control the cars, and instead of disobeying orders, the cars should be purposely going into the Black Forest. Finally, how can she keep up with your car? And how does she know exactly where you are? It doesn’t make sense. Plus, don’t forget that one teaser Busch Gardens posted on their Instagram that said, “we are soooo ready for this week” look at Frau’s clothes, they’re literally disappearing. So I think this change would make Frau more interesting, and bringing the threat of the Black Forest back.
2. Bring the original soundtrack back. The new soundtrack doesn’t fit the vibe of Verbolten. The old sounds were way better.
3. Bring back the “auf wiedersehen.” I think they should bring back the old station spiels, they were a lot more enjoyable. Plus, bring back the bridge sound effects, and add some smoke and red lights to make it.
